Research Analysis

Overall, my data and experience proved that Public transportation significantly affects the lives of both Europeans and Americans through its intricate connections to the cities and the individuals way of life. Americans proved to use more cars while Europeans, chose other means such as biking or underground travels simply because it's what their city has to offer. The form of transportation varied from city to city, as typically the city developed around the transportation such as the yielding to bikers in Amsterdam. I discovered that just in Amsterdam, people park more than 9,000 bikes a day a the cities center. All of the people surveyed commuted within a common routine showing a similarity as humans, that most people thrive off of routine. All of the people surveyed also based their transportation on cost, efficiency, and availability as they're three determining factors. Most added that their transportation was "easier." Americans when it comes to transportation, seem to be more family and community oriented as 92.5% of the Americans surveyed often traveled with more than just themselves. !00% of the Europeans surveyed said they traveled by themselves yet I did see many families especially with young kids traveling together. This gives me hope that no matter what country you are in, they are all very similar in getting around and keeping their close connected families. I also asked how far people often traveled, to get a sense of how close they stay to home and also expose the job availability in their areas. 83% of people said it took them less than an hour and while I wish this question had been constructed better, it proves that there are jobs close to home and that most surveyed stay close to how. This could be due to the factors above or an unmentioned reason. When asked where they would travel without a cost, 98% of people chose to travel far away from home showing that they would like to escape their daily lives. It also revealed that cost is a very limiting factor that shapes people's lives. Aside from all this, I traveled to many museums that were highly valued by the locals and discovered that no matter people go, it's not about where they're going but where they came from. I'm missing the types of jobs they were going to as that would've explained their mode of transportation further, however, I do have the majority of the elements I needed to answer my question. I conclude that transportation significantly affects the lives of the indivi.duals and their cities enough to transform their lives completely.
