When it comes to the purpose of All Things Dating, the idea is to look in depth at why we are dating, how we are dating, and in bigger terms, how that is impacting the ways in which we live our lives. This is especially focusing on dating apps and how the technology behind our cell phones and the social aspect of the cell phones, is changing our world. My topic is dating because the apps are a newer form of social media that have evolved from previous forms like Facebook. This project is for a History of Media class which is why, I am analyzing how a dating social media apps are changing humanity.
It is important to discuss the implications of dating apps on the world around us because they are changing the ways in which we interact with one another and it significantly impacts how we view one another. Below are some statistics that express who is using online dating and how they are perceived.

These both go to show that not only are the ways in which we view online dating becoming more positive, but the number of people using online dating has also significantly increased. This also shows that online dating is expanding onto a larger scale, hence its significance. With the growing market for online dating, it is important to talk about how online dating is changing the ways in which we interact and how we see people and ourselves. This was one of the key terms we discussed within class as we discussed why and how we use social media. We also discussed which social medias we would cut out of our lives, however at no point did anyone say we would go without social media. This just goes to show that social media and social apps are very important within society at this current time.
This is also due to way it shapes our own image and how we view people. This can be best exemplified through the following statistics:

These statistics go to show that statistically speaking, what we look for in a potential partner and how we find it are changed by the access to multiple people at once and the ability to "shop" for a date. This is very different from 40 years ago where it was who was geographically close and had similar values. Now it is based on options and exploring. This is an important reason as to why this topic should be explored more. Dating is changing and if we don't figure out how to use it to our advantage or even how to use it in general, we may fall behind and out of the social loop. More so, we have to explore the topic to prepare for the dating world of today and to hopefully, get that date!
