A Look Into The Future
Mobile Phones and The Online Dating World
So what does the future hold for us when it comes to dating? Is there even any hope for the world of dating as we know it?
I believe that we will become more reliant on technology for our social lives and even for the health of our relationships. I say this because as of current time, five billion people already have mobile devices. This is only since 1973, when Martin Cooper first launched mobile phones and devices. More so the evolution of cell phones has only made them more mobile and smaller, as to fit into our everyday lives. This meant information and more importantly for the purpose of this article, dating, more accessible as well.
But with the increase of accessible dating comes the question: what happens when we rely more on our phones and less on ourselves for interactions and knowledge? More so comes the question: what will happen to us when we dehumanize the things that make us human?
When I was born the idea of flip phones has just arisen and throughout the course of my lifetime, we've ran into the idea of smartphones and iphones. Now, we can't live our lives efficiently without one. Hence why now I believe that not only will smartphones become smarter and more efficient but it will take over more of our lives. When it comes to dating, this means smartphones will dominates the dating world as well. This may mean that phones become more interactive and that we no longer need to interact with people face to face in order to feel social and interact with people that they feel attraction to.
People want technology to make them feel closer to reality and that's what the shift will do. Technology within the next ten years will grow to bridge the gap between the digital realm and technology. This is already seen in virtual worlds and the phone will only become an key part of that. People already bring their phones everywhere in the real world and soon they won't have to go into the real world to be in it. Phones will become even smaller than they are now and basically blend right into the world around it.
Again when it comes to dating, this means we won't even have to actually date to be dating someone. Things will become so automated that conversations, emotions and feelings can be put into texts and messages, erasing the actual need for the human side of things. This may be our reality in ten years time.
So I may not be able to foresee the future but the ways in which we use our phones may be key to finding the answer. Check out the pictures and videos below to read onto mobile phones dating apps, and the ways in which both are changing our lives.
